The success of any safety and health program on your farm depends on careful planning. This means that you must take the time to analyze what you want to accomplish and develop an action plan to attain these goals.  This is true for operations with existing safety programs and for farms just beginning to implement a program.

Below is a checklist to help you get started. Even though it's in general terms, it will provide a starting point for making your workplace safer.

This checklist is by no means all-inclusive. You may wish to add to this list or delete portions that do not apply to your farm or operation.

Remember, running a successful farm-safety program depends on an accurate identification of all the hazards and potential hazards in your operation. This ongoing process often includes routine self-inspections. Want to find out more?
