Many ag businesses utilize contractors on a regular basis as electricians, millwrights, veterinarians, nutritionists, mechanics, engineers, technicians and other professionals.  If they are working on your operation and get hurt, are you liable even if they aren’t an employee?  The short answer is YES, but there are ways to limit your liability and most importantly, ensure their safety while at your operation.

Even though we may be done with harvest, there is still the rush to get fall tillage done, equipment stored, facilities secured for winter and other outdoor activities wrapped up before the snow flies.  We know that the sooner these things are done, the more comfortable we will be when the weather gets unpleasant.

The International Society for Agricultural Safety and Health (ISASH) devotes Wednesday of Farm Safety and Health week to keeping children on farms, ranches and in rural areas safe and healthy. Let’s leave our children with “A Legacy to be Proud of!”
