Safety Training = Farm Family Insurance

Written by Good Day's Work | Jan 26, 2016

As an ag operation owner, you no doubt have an insurance plan in place in case something goes wrong. It's part of the price of doing business in the event of an accident or disaster. Sometimes, that insurance plan can mean the difference between staying afloat after a particularly difficult year and going under completely.

More Than Just a Policy Number

But have you considered that insurance for your farm family might be more than just a piece of paper you filed away, just in case? Having a good safety training program in place is in itself a type of insurance because it means your family and employees have been trained to a higher awareness of hazards in your operation and proper methods running day-to-day operations. It has been demonstrated that the return in value on money invested in proper safety training more than triples in reduced costs due to accidents and injuries.

If you already have a safety training program in place, then you've already invested in another layer of insurance for your operation. If you haven't, then this is a good time of year to get one started.
